John Lowry Goodman of Indiana
Ancestry of John Lowry Goodman
By his middle name, he is currently presumed to be a son of the John Goodman who married Jeannie/Jane Lawrie/Lowry in Goochland County VA on 26 Mar 1781. [Douglas Register]. Recent DNA testing for descendents of this line now seem to indicate that the father of this John Goodman of Goochland may have actually been a Gibson, not a Goodman. We should be seeing more about this from other researchers of this particular line.

Frederick joined the U.S. Army and became
engaged in World War I in France. He was a Corporal in
rank and belonged to the Company K, 61st Infantry. He was stationed in
France for 18 months. In one of the most important and
bloodiest battles of the war, the Battles of St. Miheil and the Argonne
Forrest, he was wounded in the back and arm on October 18, 1918.
At first, he was hospitalized in Paris, France, then later was
transferred to Camp Gordon, Georgia. He fully recovered
and was discharged. Over 50 years later, he was given
the Purple Heart Award. After being released, he went to live with his Aunt
Rose Kassell who was living with her daughter Mrs. Addie Taylor in Onaga,
Kansas. There he worked for the Missouri and Union Pacific railroads.
He eventually met Elizabeth Jane Elliott , who was a lst cousin once
removed of Addie Taylor’s husband Albert. On February
21, 1921, they were married. They lived at Onaga,
Wheaton, and Frankfort, until 1930 when they moved to Jamestown, Kansas.
After 20 years for working for the railroad, he quit and started a
carpenter business in Jamestown, until he retired. On
February 12, 1965, Elizabeth Pickle died. Ten years
later, Frederick remarried and moved back to Cabool, Missouri. He died June
15, 1982 in Springfield, Missouri and is buried by Elizabeth in Jamestown
